CAWT Partnership Commitment to Good Governance
The CAWT partners are committed to good governance in the operation of the CAWT Partnership and to assessing processes on an ongoing basis, with a view to identifying strengths and weaknesses, making improvements as necessary.
Each of the CAWT partner organisations has their own governance and accountability frameworks and procedures. CAWT’s governance arrangements are designed to complement and support each partner organisation’s own governance processes and activities.
CAWT partner organisations
The current organisations within the CAWT Partnership includes the Public Health Agency (PHA), the Strategic Planning and Performance Group (SPPG), an integral part of the Department of Health, the Southern Health and Social Care Trust (SHSCT) and the Western Health and Social Care Trust (WHSCT) in Northern Ireland. In Ireland, the Partnership comprises the border counties health regions of the Health Service Executive (HSE).
The CAWT Partnership, in itself is not a legal entity. Each of the CAWT partners agrees to share legal and corporate responsibility for the CAWT Partnership. Each of the CAWT organisations is committed to a shared governance structure, where possible, in the course of CAWT Partnership business which:
• conveys, delegates, implements and enforces decisions of the Partnership;
• has reliable internal controls to protect, channel and document resources as intended;
• establishes an inclusive set of policies and procedures that are documented, accessible, understood and enforced by all staff;
• operates with probity and regularity in all its transactions;
• operates to an appropriate code of ethics which reflects the standards of the CAWT Management Board partner organisations;
• instils standards of behaviour and performance in relation to CAWT Partnership activities; and
• provides timely, transparent and realistic accounts of its work ensuring public confidence through presentations to political representatives and local and regional government committees.
