Project Summary: The CAWT Community Alcohol Detox+ Project (CAD), a €8 million cross-border initiative bringing together statutory, voluntary and community sectors to work collaboratively to support and engage with individuals, families and communities impacted by alcohol dependence. Individuals referred to the project will be considered for an assessment, which will inform if intervention through a community alcohol detoxification or harm reduction programme is appropriate. Individuals identified as appropriate for a community alcohol detox programme, and their loved ones, will be offered support in preparation for, during and after the detox programme. This will include regular contact with a member of the team. This will focus on preparing individuals for their detox programme, support the management of physical withdrawal symptoms, and provide psychological and emotional support throughout and after the detox is completed. A harm reduction programme will be offered to individuals who do not meet the criteria for community alcohol detox.
This project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB)
